My check engine light is okay but I'm wondering if there still might be minor codes not sure how thats works, from my knowledge as long as the check engine light is off everthing is perfect. I'm asking cause my fuel economy is down.
last year my check engine light did go on and I didn't really know any better so I just reset it by disconnecting the battery and it has never come back since.
Last thing is I think there is a store that will pull your codes for free (Canada)but I can't remember which?

even if there is "minor codes" it will still come on but u can check it for codes. OBD1 or obd2?

there can still be codes stored in the continuos memory even if the CEL isnt on.

many auto parts stores will pull codes for free. just ask around.

I just wanted to make sure if I correct the problem then it will be erased from that memory? Just do want to replace something twice.

after the problem is corrected, the codes will need to be manually cleared.

Manually cleared?
How would I get that done?
I thought after I would change the proper sensor the computer would be smart enough to recoqnize that and clear the code itself

codes can be cleared with a code reader.

after fixing the problem, the computer will often (although not always) turn the CEL off, but the code will remain stored in the continuous memory for up to 80 drive cycles.
