I was just wondering if it is possible to swap a 92 explorer 31 spline 8.8 over to the stock disc brake set up used by the 96's?

It can be done.

I believe joelH did it. Unfortunetly the info on it is probably gone now

yea, was just wondering if it is a bolt on swap or what deal was

If I remember corectly, You had to grind a bit on the bracket to get it to work,

Swapping the disc backing plates onto a '91-94 explorer axle is about as easy as such swaps get...

yea, if you have the backing plates and associtated hardware from the disk brake axle it should be about a bolt on swap onto the older drum explorer axle. The only thing you will have to work on is using a rubber brake line from each side of the hard line on the axle to each caliper to allow for the caliper movement.

or just swap in the 96 axle .... if the gear ratios match ..... took me about 1 hour to swap the whole axle on my 91 explorer. rates about a 1 on the dificulty meter.

i already have the 92 axle

Yes the explorer drum can be converted by using explorer disc parts.

I've got 97 disks on my 94 axle. I've had 96 disk parts and they are identical.

Another thing to look at is the Grand Cherokee disks. I believe they are very similar. I know the rotors are near identical.
