I have heard that there are some new trails over in tahoya. Is any of this true??? If it is I mite be headed over there soon. I gota try out my new sidewinder winch. :icon_thumby:
Yeah, there are 2 new hill climbs and a dug out trail. They're pretty cool, you should check them out.

How tough are they? You think my ranger with a 6inch lift and 33's would be able to do it? i have a limited slip in the rear.
You could do the dug out trail and maybe of the climbs - Yellow Jackt Saddle - if you pick a good line. The rock hill climb is beyond the capabilities of your rig. I've seen a lot of buggies not make it.

You planning on going out there any time soon? I got a winch for xmas and i an ichen to put it to good use.
Not til summer at the very soonest.... If at all.
If you want some local people to wheel with, check this place out... It's Seattle area based, more so Bremerton.

yea thanks i will check it out. do you know if these guys are extreme wheelers?

Most of them have fairly capible rigs, but they run Tahuya...
It will be probably a month before I go out there agian, or any wheeling for that matter. I have to do this stupid damn senior project... I freakin HATE state graduation requirements...
EDIT: There is some good info on the new trails. area in that link Sunks gave. I think you have to sign up for the forum, but it's worth the time! They seem like pretty good people too (all local people, it is not a nationwide forum).
When you enter the trails from the staging area, if you stay to the right (when we went last time we stuck to the left and went over to the wide hill climb for a bit) and follow that trail, it used to come out at a dirt road at the bottom of a small hill (which if followed takes you over to a big water hole, and further to a rock pile). It still comes out to that road, but the hill climb is SUBSTATIALLY different that it used to be, and there is a bypass trail to go around it (legal bypass). That, if I'm not mistaken, is where all the new trails are, they are all just hill climbs, and some pretty nasty ones at that.
I want to try Yellowjacket next time I'm there though (unless it is alot different in person...) becuase it looks liek the easiest of the new hills.

Depending on how much work I do on the project, and how long the writeups (the project should only take at most a weekend to do, and I'm doing that starting Friday) and all that takes me, the very end of February might be doable for me!
See, you are probably the type that does things early, I am a very bad procrastinator, and it bites me in the ass EVERY single time...

Are you talking about the senior "profilio" or "project"?
Our Senior portfolio was due back in early December, but our senior Project isn't due untill mid April, but we have a bunch of "due dates" along the way to make sure people like me don't wait until April 14th to have it done by April 15th...

I think I'm going to be busy untill the 3rd weekend in March (14th/ 15th).
I am going to be working on my senior project most of February, then I am going to a 4wd show in Auburn on Feb. 28th/ March 1st, and then the Puyallup 4wd swap meet is Sunday March 8th. And, before anybody asks about the Auburn show, it is a dealer only thing, and me and my cousin are going under his dad's work.
My cousin would like to go as well, and he will have his Scout done by the middle of March too, so that would work better.
And one of my friends (he has that dark blue jeep that was with me and Grant the day you blew up your t-case at Tahuya) and he is going to have the work done to his Jeep, hopefully, by mid March as well.
For what it's worth, you keep saying Tahoya, and it's TahUya.
Figured I'd let ya know.

Yeah, Tahuya State Forest
I never have anything else planned that far ahead (for the most part). I just put 4wheeling ahead of everything else and plan around that, haha.

I need to add a broken timming belt to the growing list of parts i have broken due to a very heavy right foot.:badidea:. So far the list includes broken tcase, rear drive shaft, timming belt, clutch/pressure plate, starter, and some more i cant remember.
dogboy
01-29-2009, 11:09 PM
How does the starter relate to a heavy foot?
I try not to be too hard on the skinney pedal, but sometimes shit happens, and it is fun, haha.
Kinda hard to be heavy on the throttle lately becuase the truck will have a HUGE ack of power and then about 2,500 rpm the throttle will kick in... Hard! It is a pain in the ass and I cannot solve the problem... I've tried a TON of things.
I don't think it is related to my heavy foot though.

I went too fast into a mud hole. so it wasnt totaly my right foot.

Honestly, I didn't read it entirely, but it's a sticky, so it's gotta be good.
In short, go to Photobucket (I think it's the easiest site) and create an account for yourself if you don't have one. Then upload the pics. Then click the check box next to the pics you want to put on here, and click the button in the lower right hand corner of the page that says something about "create a image Tag___" I can't remember what all it says, All I know is the word "create" is there. Then find the box that says "image code for Message Boards" (Or something like that) copy the whole box, and paste it directly into your post.
And Booom!, you have pics.
Host them in a site like Photobucket, that's easiest I think. Then copy+paste the IMG code here.

You deffentally have mroe flex in the rear than the front. But all Rangers are that way...
And there is quite a bit more water in that hole than thier was last time we went, before christmas!
Hey, I've seen your truck before.. I remember looking at the 63's on the back of it out on South Loop sometime last year.

02-06-2009, 09:26 AM
Yeah, you were in the trooper behind us and you guys were getting impatient, lol. I don't know if you made the connection, but I had my ranger there at that time too.
Oh yeah, I knew I met you...
We were getting impatient? Oh sorry... A couple of my friends that were there don't wheel much, and like to cruise around in like 3rd low. It's a little annoying.

yea i remember that trip. since then i have lifted the front 2 more inches and i have put james duff radius arms and a d35 up front. i am getting more flex out my rear then my dad is getting out of his jeep. i really need to find a ramp to test the flex. :icon_hornsup:

02-06-2009, 07:13 PM
Yeah, probably was the people you were with. I don't recall who said it, but I just remember somebody says hurry up, or something like that, haha.
I want to try that hill BAD, but I am with you, I want to wait until it dries up, wet rocks can be bad!
Could have been or IIRC, there was a Sami behind us. And the guy in that is a total tweaker. People call him Joe Dirt and I wouldn't be surprised if he lives in Tahuya, I see him there all the freakin time.
That must be Yellow Jacket Saddle... I hear that's been eating rigs. One blown rear axle, one front, a driveshaft, power steering box (or close to that) so far.... But I wanna try it to, lol.

02-07-2009, 12:03 AM
Oh, dude, I know who you are talking about! lol. I have seen him there all but one maybe two of the times I've gone there. I've seen him in a Sami, and on a quad. I just thought of him as some wierd guy the first time I saw him, but then he was there the next couple times also, and he just started seeming wierder, and wierder, haha.
I didn;t even reaslize it untill a coupel days ago, but I kinda know the guy with that flat fender. His dad and my dad are friends from a Jeep club my dad was in, until he sold his Jeep. His dad is still in the club, B.L.A.S.T. .
Figured I'd share...

thanks. add a broken rear leaf spring to the broken parts list. a guy broke his on his sami. it is getting pretty wicked towards the middle.

yea the ranger is a beast!! i think i got all the bugs worked out of the electral system.

Yeah he's usually just sitting in Mud Lake watching people... I guess he has like 5 Samis or something. I knew a guy who was totally convinced he stole his Sami for a year, then brought it back minus random parts. :icon_confused: I've seen him around wheeling claiming one of his lockers is broken... turns out the hub was unlocked. Another time his son passed me and a few friends half way down South Loop and yelled out the window "I haven't even locked in the hubs yet!" Yeah riiiiiight...
Yeah that guy with the flat fender is on 4x4Net... Nate887 I think.

02-08-2009, 01:29 AM
Some people are just... odd...
Yeah, that is him. He is on 4x4Net, and a couple others I think.
I'm tryin' to get my cousin to finish his Scout so we can do a Tahuya run sometime in the middle of March.
Today, me and him headed over to Derek's (LoanRanger's) house, and my cousin picked up the set of 36x13x15 IRoks on black crawler wheels, and I snagged the radius arms off of his dad's old D28, so I can make some extended arms for when/ if I do my lift (either way I'm doing extended arms). Damn those things were a pain in the ass to get off though... Derek's right, no amount of money could have gotten him to take them off for me, haha. I had to do it when I got there.
His Scout looks awsome now though!! A hell of alot better than the bald 35x14.5 Thornbird-Dragslicks on chrome steelies. He is going to need an inch or two of wheel spacers though, but since the rig won't be seeing much pavement, it's allright. The tires just hit the leaves, before the steering gets to it's lock
I'll get a picture of it up here sonner or later. As I said in a different thread, our computer with Vista is being stupid and doesn't want to read the ship from my phone.
Yeah the RAs are a pain to get off the axle. I couldn't even get them with a 18" 1" drive ratchet. I ended up taking my axle to a friend's house and he used a torch to get them red hot... Then they came off nice and easy.
dogboy
02-08-2009, 02:07 AM
They were off the truck already, and we used about a 4' piece of pipe on the arm end to hold the axle steady, while we used a cresent and pipe wrench with a 4' pipe as an extention to get them off. And even then, they were still tight.
I am just going to spray mine with WD40 or something a couple times a week for the next month or so so that they might be easier to get off :icon_idea: .
