Is the 7.5 OK?

Hi, Sorry if this has been discussed before but I couldn't find anything on it.

I have an 04 3.0 V6 auto and 373

I previously had an 06 2.3 auto 410 which would have kicked the 04's butt. I'm sure it's those darn 373.

I want to re gear to 410 and possibly an Eaton LS.

Is the 7.5 gong to handle the 3.0 with 410's? I'm not abusive but I like to punch it once in a while.

I have been searching for an FX4 8.8 with no luck. So I am leaning toward re gearing the 7.5.

Thoughts?

I have a 1999 Ranger with a 3.0L, factory installed 4.10 gears and a L/S unit. I've tromped it many a times and it's held up fine.
 
Yeah it should be fine. The weak spot on the 7.5s is the carrier. If that Eaton unit is full carrier, that should take care of any problems you would have.

does eaton even make a unit for the 7.5, and is your truck 4x4?
if so you have to re gear the front too if you want to use it, and if its 2wd, it might be easyer to find a 4.10 l/s 75 in a junkyard, it will cost less too
 
The 7.5 was used succesfully in 302 mustangs for YEARS....

I doubt a stock 3.0 will tear it up.

I hope so. I ordered 4.56s for mine.
 
I've been driving the wife's Ranger now that she has the Sport Trac and have got to thinking I may keep it. We've been getting pounded with snow and ice, and I've left it in 2WD. The L/S works great.

Or maybe I am just growing up and no longer trying to go out of control with excess skinny pedal.
 
i have the 7.5 in my 95 2.3 5spd 2wd and its a beast. ne thing i throw at it it takes a lil bitch. i had the rearend apart a month ago at the shop and jr. told me that it looked great. no probs and it was the first time apart since the factory assembled it.
 
my brother tore up 2 7.5s behind his 2.9 ranger. he was running 33x12.5s and the stock 3.73.. put in a 9in in and hasnt had a problem..
 
I broke the spiders 3 different times in mine, the first time it was only on 31s. It was 3.73 with the factory L/S. Hope you have better luck than I did. An aftermarket carrier should help.
 
yeah ive got 7.5 with 3.45:1 rear end. i have stock 14inch tires tho. those big tires might have sumtin to do with the bad luck guys.
 
ive got 7.5 and 3.45:1 and 14 inch stock tires and rims thats my success story. My dad told me when i younger that going bigger tire size means u should go bigger axle size. Thats because me and my big bro and him had replaced many rear ends and axles on bros scottsdale. it had 44 super swampers and a crate 350. badass truck
