after my truck has warmed up and usually while driving around town my engine will usually loose most power and run really lean. i had my dad ride with me the other night in the truck and he said that he thinks at least half of the cylinders where cutting out at once and when slowing or stoping i have to keep 1 foot on the gas and the other on the brake just to keep her running. it also takes forever for the rpm to get up high enough for it to shift out of first, usually wont shift till almost 4300 rpm with a A4LD sitting behind the engine. Thanks for your help in advance.

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak?
You could also have a torque converter issue?

get the codes if you can
+1 with checking for vacuum leaks
have the TFI (aka ignition module) checked

could be that the o2 sensor is fualty too.

after its been off for awhile, fully cooled, does it run fine again until warmed?

so the 02 sensor will case it to lose power after running for a whilw? cause i just got an 88 2.9 runs great but after awhile it will lose power and start sputtering and when it downshifts(auto) it will run fine until upshift. plus my 02 sensor wire is cut!!!:annoyed: thanks

If your O2 sensor wire is cut....then there is no way it can give feedback to the ECM to correct for over fueling or under fueling after it has fully warmed.

other sensors can still play in this type of condition. but...with O2 sensor out of the picture....its kinda like trying to play cards with main cards missing.
