Ok, I plan on rebuilding my 99 Ranger 4.0 to make it into a flatbed with a somewhat Heavy Duty suspension. I'm wondering if the Hellwig sway bars are worth the money or should I just get a sway bar bushing kit from energy suspensions? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

ive heard of guys using 1" sway bars off the back of some stock BII's. IIRC, they basically bolt in place.

If you are looking for the biggest stiffest bars possible for a Ranger/bronco2 they are:

Front, the '87-1/2 through 1989 STX High Rider front sway bar. This is a FRONT mount bar the same thickness as the earlier behind the axle bar, but because it has shorter acting arms it is indeed stiffer.

Rear, you want the bar off an '87-90 TWO-WHEEL-DRIVE Bronco2

Yes, this is a 1" bar

As you can discover by perusing an Addco catalog
The things that make a sway-bar stiffer are:
a)Larger bar diameter.
b)Shorter length under torsion (the length between the mounting bushings)
c)Shorter "arms" to apply torsion force. (Giving the suspension less leverage against the bar)
