can some one tell me the difference between a computer for a
4 liter 5spd ex cab 2wd
4 liter 5spd ex cab 4x4
4 liter 5spd reg cab 2wd
4 liter 5spd reg cab 2wd?

i need to find a computer for my 96 splash. i just put a 4 liter motor in it an iam trying to find the best computer for it. its a 5 spd manual EVERYTHING 2wd
 
the cab and drive dont effect what computer is used. auto/manuals use different computers, and there are probably a few different calibration codes depending on what emissions devices your motor is equipped with.
 
so any 5 spd 4.0 computer should work then ?
 
Yep.....95-97. Doesn't matter 2wd or 4wd. Or Cab size.
 
man if you got money do a stand alone system
 
unless you have massive engine modifications that are out of the ability of the stock computer to be tuned to, a stand alone system is a 100% waste of money.
 
so i called a local yard looking for a computer for a 4 liter 5 spd an he asks for a number.. i tell him any one he has should work.. he then goes well i have 3 pages an theirs no way their all going to work.. what a bone head.. so i still dont have an answer on getting a computer..
 
those would be the calibration codes i was talking about :icon_thumby:

i dont suppose you have access (even a vin) to the truck the motor came out of...
