would the 4.0 rad be enough cooling for the 5.0?

well what have others used? anything other than the 4.0 one...

I'm also look for a cheap alternative to the expensive radiators out there, how about a V-8 explorer rad?

There are as many choices out there for radiators as there is motor mount setups.

Yeah you can use the v-8 explorer rad with a few modifications.

Just take some measurments to see how big a rad. you can fit in there. Then go to your local junk yd. and look around.

If you want to put the rad under the core support you will need a little smaller rad.

i have a 90's mustang (have to look up what exact year),had to do a lot of trimming around the core support.ebay score for $120.
also used the 2 speed e-fan and shroud.
you can get a new one at napa for around $80,without the the fan of course.

well i was planing on useing the 4.0 rad with a flx-40 fan i have i was jsut hopeing that there would be enough room with the fan from the front of the water pump pully:icon_confused:

i just got my 94 explo 4.0 rad from radiatorbarn.com or something. it was like 115 shipped brand new? and im going to pickup my electric fan tomorrow from advanced

a 2-row 4.0 radiator out of an explorer would be sufficient for most stock or lightly modified V-8's, particularly if you have a good shroud and/or a mechanical fan. short water pumps are available if clearence ends up being an issue.

what's an flx-40 fan? If it's a flex fan, i'd advise against it. A mechanical clutch fan is best option for efficient cooling.

where can i get a short water pump? and yes thats the rad i got. now im going to do a electric fan, im going to mount it as far in my core support as i can, but i may have to do a pusher fan

flx 40 fan is the electric fan with thremo stat on it, thanks a lot wicked i see u seem to be most helpful in a lot of threads out there
