Oil Filters

Hey, just wondering which oil filters you guys prefer....I used Wix at the last oil change, this time I used K&N....supposedly K&N has a flow valve which increases you oil pressure by 8-12 psi....what do you guys prefer?
 
I've just used a regualr 8A off the shelf. judging by my gauge, I'm pretty sure I don't need more pressure in mine! lol
 
didnt know that about k&n, ill have to try that. ive always used motorcraft

Edit: how is the k&n working?
 
wix/napa or motorcraft for me. if i have low oil pressure, i fix the problem :icon_thumby:
 
I use k&n oil filters on both of my vehicles. They are proven to filter out particulate as small as 10 microns, compared to 20 microns for most off the shelf filters, including fram, motorcraft etc. I've had good luck using them so far. I haven't tried Mobil oil filters yet, but I hear they are also excellent. K&N's are also nice because they have a 1" nut on the bottom, which makes tightening/loosening the filter a breeze using a wrench.
 
Using Fram filters on a 2.9 will restrict your oil flow. I prefer using Motorcraft filters.
 
k&n uses a resin impregnated cellulose material for their oil filter media, which apparently causes little (if any) restriction in oil flow. The filter media is also wrapped around a steel core, which eliminates the possibility of the filter collapsing under high oil pressure. I don't have any numbers or anything, but the k&n oil filter has a number of features that make it a good high flow/low restriction unit.

sounds like the exact same construction as a motorcraft or wix filter :icon_thumby:
 
Only a small portion of oil actually goes through the filter.
The majority of it bypasses so I don't know how a certain brand of oil filter could increase oil pressure.

Now that I think about it, there is no way an oil filter could increase PRESSURE in the engine. It could possibly increase FLOW.
