Ok I have a question, there is a guy on E-Bay selling an adapter plate to connect a 2.3 to any small block ford tranny...the plate was designed for racing applications but I dont see any reason why I couldnt use it in my truck. My question is: will a mildly built 2.3 be able to sufficiently handle the full size tranny, transfer case and the Dana 44s currently being put under my ranger? I'll be running 3.73s and 34 in tires. I was planning on sticking with the 2.3 because 1 I already have a bran new one and 2 for the mileage.
