I have read somewhere recently that you can use the supercharger from a thunderbird supercoupe on the 4.0 ranger....

I searched the forums and cant find anything...

who can tell me about this?

here is an ebay kit for the ohc
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Ranger-4-0-SOHC-Supercharger-Installation-Kit-for_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el1116Q QitemZ130170088281QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPart sQ5fAccessories

if you have an ohv you can do it but as far as i could find there was no kit I just made a upper manifold out of 2x3 tubing and welded a plate to bolt the charger to there are forms to read about this i world post some pic but did not take any when i did this it took me about 15h to complete

my truck will take about 6lbs of boost without pinging
here are some pic of it all done

what did you do for tuning?

would you say it was worth it?

how about overall cost?

any hidden problems with the mod?

sorry for the questions..... am just a curious learner

i have not had the money to tune
all in all i spent 120 for the charger, 40 for the belt and the metal was free since i did not do tuning i bought a af and boost gauge to keep and eye on things

yes it was well worth it the power was night and day

my belt does not have much on the alt so it squeak just after it starts need to put a idle pulley some were to fix it

if i really get on it in first and just put the pedal to the floor and hold it went past the red line and it started to ping at about 8to12 lbs of boost did that once not again

i had try header and rebuild the motor to get more power i got little but the a4ld was a big leach now that its gone runs like raped ape

if you have a shop and a welder and scene of how things work go for it

i have an ohv and had to build every thing the kit for the ohc i read that people had great returns

as far as an understanding of how things work..... I have it..

I just dont have the fabricating skills/knowledge..

just so I understand correctly:
you just bolted on the supercharger without fuel or ecu mods?

I have the RCaster kit and love it!! No tune yet but running a steady 5 psi.. I had a dyno done before s/c install with headers, cai, and xcal3 and had.

Still need to go to dyno again for s/c #'s..

Lucky! Man, I wish we had a wheel dyno out here in Idaho I could run mine on. Those are good numbers for an N/A 4.0! No sheets for the post-s/c install I take it?

PS: Where in Oregon is this Dynojet facility? I'm intrigued! Also - be careful with the blower - 13.4:1 is lean under boost!

12:1 is the recommended safety margin 4 boost, 11.5 for better cooling w/o intercooling.
