rear end compatibility 86 to 88 Bronco II

Hello all, I'm new to the forum and need some guidance.
I have an 88 BII XLT 2.9 auto trans with a worn out rear end. Can I replace with the rear end from an 86 BII 2.9 auto? The 88 has an ABS sensor plug in, but the 86 does not. I assume that means I just won't have anti lock brakes. Is the gear ratio the same? Thanks!

you need to check the tag on the rear end to make sure or the sticker inside the drivers door.
