yo,
You can a full floater kit from Jegs. They call them c-clip eliminators and they are made by moser. They have two different ones depending on which 8.8 you have.

superior axle makes a c clip eliminator kit with large press on bearings used in custom d60's and 31 spline axle shafts.i was looking through some jeep forums yesterday looking for d44 parts and stumbled across an 8.8 with one of those warn kits.that might be the best way to find the kit(or whole axle) you're talking about.

I don’t think a c-clip eliminator kit is the same as a full floater kit. True a full floater does not have c-clips but the axle only transmits torque to the wheels and does not support the weight of the vehicle. A c-clip eliminator kit will make the use of a c-clip to hold the axle in obsolete but will not make it a full floater. That is unless it comes with new shafts, spindles, bearings, hubs/drive flanges. Then its not a c-clip elim kit it’s a full floater kit.

yep it needs to be like a one ton axle with regular bearings to be full float.either set up would probably work fine in a rbv.the superior kit is about 540$

Yo,
Yeah Todd, i see what you are saying. A c-clip eliminator will make it so you dont have to take off the diff cover to remove the axle (and offeres another bearing for the axle to ride on), but the axle is still supporting the weight of the truck and if you snap a shaft, the wheel will fall off.

Actually if you snap an axle the wheel will not fall off, that is why c clip eliminators are a must in drag racing when using slicks.

which jeep forum? i am very interested in this.

that is where i first learned about the origional FF kit that warn had. i became intrested in it and wanted to learn about other options.

as far as whether or not the wheel would fall off, the only way that it would with a C clip eliminatior kit is if the shaft broke right at the flange. this is unlikely however because the narrowest part of the shaft is be the splines where necks down a little bit.

Actually that depends greatly on WHERE the axle shaft breaks.

C-clip eliminators are for track use they are worthless for on highway vehicles because nobody has ever made a C-clip eliminator that doesn't leak.
atleast not one where the reports of it have reached my ears....

There WAS a "Full floater" kit but it was for F-150 and full size broncos

I don't believe anyone has ever made one for RBVs.

I know that, but i am yet to see an axle break right at the flange, everyone i have seen is at the spline end.

Our race car (89 mustang, done to the nuts 302, 8.8 with 28 spln moser shafts and cclip eliminator kit) has had the c clip eliminators in it for about 2 years now with no leaks and its gets street driven, highway driven and beat on the drag strip on the weekend ends.
