Toyo Koygo is a mitsubishi built transmission

No, my computer won't let me open it. I was stating that the Mazda 5-speed transmission for rangers is an M5OD-R1. The Toyo Koygo are Mitsubishi based transmissions. Does it apply to both?

Ford and Toy Kogyo aka Mazda info

The service bulletin states the following: see image or
"Ford Motor Company is providing a no charge Service program to owners of certain 1986-87 model Ranger and Bronco II trucks equipped with the Mazda five-speed manual transmissions" The letter was sent in 1990 so it is no longer free. But the part numbers are good.
I know the transmission is a Toyo Kogyo TK5. Mazda was once Toyo Cork Kogyo Ltd in 1920 then changed to Toyo Kogyo Ltd in 1927 then Mazda-Go 1931, finale Mazda North American Operations in 1970

Oh, thats interesting. I didn't know that. I was always told Mitsubishi produced the Toyo's. Hmmm, does the TK5 share anything with the M5OD?

If I am correct no the M5OD is totaly new and is a top loader where the TK5 is a bottom loader. Check out the tech libary. If I am wrong someone correct me please

Oh, shit... I feel stupid now. lol, its only the FM based transmissions that were mitsu built. For some reason I though the Toyo's were too. Hmmm, interesting. Thanks for clearing that up.

Stupid feeling? Hell I wake up like that before doing anything! Had that happen to my '87'. I think it was actually the plastic pivot that they had problem with. No where do they mention flushing the trans out to get rid of any particles left in there. That's what bothered me and I asked about it. Only had to drive 3 miles of country roads in first gear to get home. I had about the 12" of play.
