1. You can get stock 4.10's. And ARB or Detroit are always good to go with.
2. Thats fine just don't put it in 4wd. if you do your truck will be screwed beyond repair
3. you will have to put on the manual hub conversion kit, not just the hubs.

You'll want 4.56 gears with 31s on a 3.0L, not 4.10.

Agreed, go with the ARB or Detroit. The front chunk gets unbolted from the beam to get inside it.

If you get an auto-4WD truck, you can put the manual hubs on (replacing the most problematic part), while still keeping the push-button t-case. A t-case swap is dirt-simple though too (that's provided you can FIND a manual 1354 case however).

Dont buy the warn convertion kit, its a waste of money.you can buy the same thing for about 12 bucks vs 40+

Since your buying new hubs, get the ones for jeeps.they are built a little better...do a serach or look in the tech libary

yes you lock the hubs and push the button to be in 4wd,no push the button, no power to the front wheels.

yes when the hubs are locked the front drive train will be locked in, just no power going to the wheels till you push the 4x4 buton on the dash......make sense?

your going to be bumed out with the 410;s IMO...

27T Dana 35-3.55:1 ratio & up is the carrier you want

Where did you find your info that 4.10 is the "right" gear for 31s on the 3.0L V6?

The 3.0L will exhibit no difference in MPG between 4.10 and 4.56 (it might even be better with 4.56), so why would you not want to have the extra torque available? :icon_confused:

When I did the lift on my truck years ago, I was asked the tire size I wanted which is 31's. The tech said 4:10 is the ratio that suits 31's just fine. Since I have the 3.0 & the 4:10 my truck has never had anykind of power issue since day 1. No drop in gas, get up & go, or driveability besides 4:56 was more expensive so I settled for the 4:10. Over the years even on TRS & RPS 4:56 was a better gear if you are running 33's or bigger.

Since I have been using the 4:10 on my 3.0 2wd ranger for around nine years now, I will go ahead & put 4:10's in my other ranger. That is a good setup for me, & it does real good at least for me anyway. My 3.0 is not weak with those 4:10's since it has the 5spd. It can & will get out of it's own way.

Why do you think 4:56 would be better on the 3.0 than the 4:10?

Where did you find that 4:10 gear is wrong for the 3.0?
Was this tech familiar with the 3.0 engine when he told you that?
The 3.0L torque peaks at a much higher RPM than many engines (3250-3750 depending on year). If it cannot spin enough RPM, not only will the power be less, so will MPG.

Nowhere did I say 4.10 is a "wrong" gear either, it's just not as ideal as 4.56 would be.

If you've been happy with 4.10 and are determined to stick to them, then that's certainly fine (it's not hugely different than 4.56). It's going to feel quite a bit different on a 4x4 than a 2WD though (I regretted my choice of 4.10s on my 4.0L 4x4, which I loosely based on the experience I had with a similar 2WD truck).

Anyway, I'm only here trying to help. Good luck on it :icon_thumby:

The problem he is trying to tell ya is that the 4.10's with a 3.0 maybe be good in a 2wd and have get up and go, but when you think of the extra weight of the dana 35 front end and the transfer, driveshaft, you have just added HUGE amount of weight...and ya, with a 2wd the 31's and 4.10's are a good choice, but with the 4x4 you would want to listen to everyone's advice that has done this in the past, cause experience talks more then a catalog or a performance tech can tell ya :)

I had a 3.0 in my 5spd topaz and yeah, they can get up and go, until you add weight to them...they aren't much of a torque engine that's for sure

go with the 4.56's

a 2wd only has 2 wheels to pull

your 4x4 will have twice that when you lock in the front two...

i may be wrong, but i'd bet that your 3.0L would be alot happier with 4.56's when those 4 loaded tires are buried half way to the frame in mud/snow
