Rusted solid, any ideas?

Ok, the previous owner of my truck clearly didn't ever remove the hitch from the receiver on my truck now it's rusted on like a mofo. I have beat it with a hammer and covered it in penetrating oil with no luck. I read online that an air hammer will work but that seems like it would be hard on the rest of my truck. I don't have a torch but I may end up having my uncle help me with his, but I am keeping this as a last resort. Any new ideas? thanks.

I have heard that soaking it in hydrogen peroxide will work. Never tried it however.
 
Sorry, but I gotta ask. You removed the pin or is that rusted in there?
 
I was gonna ask that too lol.

Try soaking it with some muriatic acid.
 
take the pin out. take a sledge hammer, and go to down. if all else fails, try backing your hitch into a object that wont move, to break the rust. then just tie it down and pull.

LOL ok im not the most mechanically inclined sometimes but even I know to take the pin out, I just put it back in in case I ever do need to tow something.
 
Gotta love the northern winters and road salt. If you can rust a hitch to a receiver like that, how does your frame look?

She's got some rust but nothing compared to that!

If I go around backing my truck into stuff don't I have to start worrying about tweeking my frame? The last thing I wanna do is turn a small job into a nightmare. Thanks for all the quick replies guys!!
 
YES you have to worry about breaking stuff!

You don't know how hard to hit it, and it's always a MUCH harder hit than you think, since your truck weighs the better part of two tons.

If the sledgehammer isn't doing it, take it to a welder or a body shop or a suspension garage or an automotive machine shop. Anyplace that has an oxy torch lying around.

And consider whether you want to trust your load to that thing if it's that rusted.
 
ouch, dmt your frame is rusted real bad, how do you get it to pass inspection like that? I know PA has some pretty stiff inspection requirements.. Judging by the amount of rust on that frame did the owner ever wash the underneath at all?
 
It pisses me off when people leave them in. Around here it only takes a couple months of leaving them in to make them permenant.
 
You can get a bottle of Prop or Mapp from Home Depot and a torch for cheap. When I was parting my 79 a lot was rusted solid. Heat and a hammer did wonders. So did a grinder and a cut off wheel.
 
strap around a tree, drape a coat over the middle of the strap and heat and tug, repeat
