i have painted lots suspension components. first take the time to strip and prep the pieces to be painted right. Then i found worked best was a rattle can etch primer, then a rattle can sealer primer, scuff w/scotchbrite, sealer prime again and then 2 light coats of rustoelum, then 2 heavy coats of rustoleum. if you use a glossy rustoleum the results look great, but be patient and don't rush. i did a set of tubular a trays for an s-10 5 years ago for a friend like this and they look amazing still and he beats it up pretty good in the trails. and they are still a bright shiny red.
