My name is Eric. I'm from Minnesota. I have been viewing this site for some time, and decided to become a member after using the technical library. I have a 94 ranger, with auto hubs. This morning, I did the swap to manuals, with the help of Chris Emmons's step by step guide.
I would like to add one thing to Chris Emmons's instructions. I had trouble with the wedge also. I tried a magnet, then I tried prying, and those didn't work. Since the Big nut is discarded after removal, I chiseled part of it off right above the wedge. Then I was able to slide a flat head screwdriver right on the wedge, and it slid out like butter. Then I used a Visegrip C-clamp to take the nut off. Everything went smooth.
