I am workin with a moped that has sat all winter and some of fall. Upon starting, it won't even idle or ignite. The electric starter just chugs. Has old fuel (like 3-4 months) created a blockage? I guess I could pull the spark plug out and look at it, but i dont think its the sparkplug because all worked fine before it's lack of use during the winter :icon_confused:

Have you tried starting fuid?

If it fires with starting fluid, then you'll know if the fuel is bad or clogged etc

Is it a two stroke?

naw, i havn't even drained the gas. I'd have to drain the gas and run 100% starter fluid right? Just a squirt of?

Take the air cleaner off and give it a puff in the carb.

If it is turning over slow, I would check out the starter and what all makes it work. It could be like a lawn mower where the battery has enough power to start it fine in winter, but loses its punch when it gets cold out and the general population doesn't start them anyway.

yeh it didnt start one day and it was like 40 degrees outside so we assumed it was that. but today was 60 something so we gave it a shot but no luck

what year/kind of moped is it? turn the lights on when you try to kick it over and see if you get a response from the lights
