8.8 trac loc questions

My apologies in advance if this has been covered way too many times but I found no FAQ with the search function.

Where is the best place to buy the rebuild kit at and secondly how to stiffen them up/ get better longer engagement over stock.

Thank you. I do have to ask about going from an open carrier to the trac lock. I have currently an open 3.73, I was given the L/S for free with some many miles on it. Can I rebuild it outside the truck or does it need to be installed to tighten it up over stock?

I rebuilt mine on a bench, I put a piece of wood between the vice jaw and the ring gear so it wouldn't hurt it and went to town. If you don't do it in a vice it will try to squirm all over the bench as you work on it.
