I have a clicking noise coming from my ranger. It only does this when I'm going down the road, It stops when I stop. Does any body got any suggestions?:headbang:

sounds like brakes or maybe wheel bearings

normally something like that would be in a newer vehicle with a cv axle. Since you dont have that I would check for items that work in the same manner, u joints specifically, look for a piece of plastic hanging on a wheel, stuff like that. if its only when you drive then you know its part of the driveline as that is the only parts that quit spinning when you quit rolling. This narrows it down to moving parts below the truck and should be relatively easy to find. MOST LIKELY IN THE HUB AREA OF ONE OF THE TWO FRONT WHEELS.

I had a 99' 2wd that did that and it was the front pasenger side wheel bearing. My 03 4x4 does it once in a great while now, mostly after wheel'n. Try greasing them up and see if that makes a difference. That may be a good indicator. Mine sounded like a tap it, but only when it's in motion and it increased with speed, not rpm. Good luck.:icon_thumby:

Can you narrow it down any?

Coming from the front, back, drivers side, pass. side etc.

Does it get louder or faster as you frive faster or is a constant sound at all speeds?

Turning left, turning right?

On the front passenger side, when the truck is lifted, I can move the tire back and forth a little. So possibly a bearing. But the u-joints look like they have never been replaced. What do you think?

if you have ANY movement in the tire back and forth and it's not just loose on the lug nuts, you need to pin point what you need to do to fix that. ignoring a problem like that is not only unsafe to you, but to any passengers or other road users. take a look at the bearing.

Might just be a nail in the tire.

WOW, talk about K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid. I never even thought about this. Although I think his wheel bearing is the issues. In our humvees, when we did PMCS (preventative maintenance checks and services) We had to check the wheel for lateral movement specifically for wheel bearings. Focus on that for right now and have it checked out.

Haha....yeah...I had picked up an old bottle cap on one of my tires and it just about drove me nuts trying to figure it out...

I figured it out. There is a plastic cover on the gas tank, It was loose , and the driveshaft was slapping it with every revolution. Guess I didn't see it when I checked the u-joints the first time. Funny how the little squeaks and noises just drive you nuckin futs, But anyways thanks for the help everybody.
