Transmission
Automatic
I have an 89 Ranger XLT 4x4 ext cab automatic trans, I replaced the worn out 2.9 with a 4.0 from a newer explorer. I realized soon after that I have no overdrive in my current transmission. I replace the 3-4 shift soleniod and the tcc lock up soleniod but niether fixed the problem. The guy at the transmission shop said its most likley a problem in the transmission besides the soleniod or vacuum assist. I would like to know what automatics will fit in my truck and can I use the current transfer case or is there a stronger set up out of another ranger or explorer that will work. I don't want to do anymore mods i just want a plug and play set up(just drop it in and go). Any help would be appreciated.

thanks
T.J
