I have been trying to pull the motor from my truck for days now scratching my head. I have a 99 3.0 litre flex fuel motor that is seised. I need to loosen the torque converter bolts to get the motor out but I do not know how to do this as the torque convertor is bolted to the flywheel, also I cannot figure which bolts I need to loosen from the trans to the motor, she's all greased up down there. I really dont want to pull the motor and the trans at the same time. thanks

You can pull the trans off the converter, just don't try to put one together that way.
You need to pull the starter off first. You may be able to roll to motor over by a prybar at the flywheel. The two lowest bell housing bolts thread rear ward, you will be able to see one when you pull the starter. The other four thread into the motor block. They may be obscured by wiring and such. By the sounds of it you need someone there that has a little more experience.

There are six bolts that i took out when i took my 3.0 out of my truck, once you get the starter off and those six bolts get a jack and block of wood under the tranny and jack the tranny up a little and then start to lift the motor out should come out nice and easy.

I am in Mchenry, IL
I just wasn't sure that you can pull the torque converter from the trans. Sounds like it is easy enough to pull it now. Thanks

i dont know how hard it is to take the oil pan off ....but if you can...........if the crank is siezed you can loosen the main bearing caps and get it to turn over enough to remove the converter bolts/nuts......

There may be one or two small (6mm) bolts at the bottom that need to come out as well.

there are two small bolts at the bottom, the hold a cover plate to the bell housing through the backing plate.
