I have a 88 B2 with a 7.5 with LS and 3.73s a buddy has 4.56 gears out of a 95 ranger that had a 7.5 in it. Would I beable to take the gears from that rear and install them in my 7.5 or would I need to get a 4 series carrier? All I can get from him is the Ring gear and pinion gear and shims and all he dont have the rear or anything n e more. Thanks guys

yes you can put that carrier and gears into your axle housing, but you need to have the gears properly set up...you cant just throw them in your axle and go.

Yeah, if you have never set up gears before, do a lot of reading beforehand and look up tech articles, there are a few threads on it here. You don't wanna ruin yer gear set in the first few hundred miles like I did one time! :icon_thumby:

Ive set up gears and all before with no problem but I know that sometimes in certain situations you have to get a 4 series carrier to run 4 series gears. I would be usen my posi set up that currently has the 3.73s on it and I was just mainly worried about if it would swap from a 95 to a 88 I wasnt sure if anything got changed along those years in production thanks

AFAIK there is no carrier break on the 7.5 (or any RBV axle for that matter), so the gears will swap just fine.

Yep, should swap fine. Same carrier.
