View Full Version : Some weirdness following links w/in board

I'm really not sure if this is a board problem or a web browser problem or some combination.

Sometimes, if I follow a link, it changes color but the new page doesn't load. If I open it in a new window, I get a blank page with the correct (new) URL. After this, none of the website links and buttons work anymore, but the browser's buttons do. Reload sometimes fixes the problem (but usually doesn't), and back always seems to work.

This is a particular problem on the PM page, regional forums, and misc electrical. It doesn't seem to happen anywhere else in this board, or on any other website.

I'm running Mozilla 1.6:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113

Yes, it's very old. There's not much I can do about that.

Has anyone else seen this issue? It really makes PMs hard to deal with.

It doesn't seem to be an issue on Firefox 2.0.0.6 here (XP SP2). Let me check it on Ubuntu...

Edit - works great at my house on Ubuntu 7.04 i386 as well.

MAKG:

I'm using Seamonkey (the updated version of Mozilla). I've run across this problem before and it turned out to be the pop-up blocker. The work-around is pressing the CTRL key and clicking on the link, which disables the pop-up blocker and allows the other window to open.

This, of course, applies only if vBulletin is opening links in another window.

Since you are on Linux, have you tried one of the other browsers?

I forgot I even had Seamonkey installed on my box at the house, but it does seem to work there as well.

Does mozilla 5.0 have a popup blocker?

I'd suspect it has to do with the older browser - I can't reproduce it here with IE. I'll try some others when I get home

Yes, it has a popup blocker. I'll try exempting TRS from it.

Edit: based on a few very simple trials, that does appear to be an improvement.

But it's not opening popups.
