Seems my Toyo Kogyo has given up the ghost. I've found one at a local junkyard, used, for $400 with a 90-day warranty. Somehow I wonder if I can do better than that (cheaper). Does anyone know where I might be able to find a good used gearbox for my 87 Ranger? Thanks bros.

Personally I wouldn't pay that.

I'd actually look for a M5ODR-1. A lot better of transmission.

and the M5ODR-1 will bolt right in? It doesn't use a different driveshaft or anything? The bellhousing bolt pattern is the same?
Buy it for a 2.9 or a 4.0 and it will bolt up.

However.....you will need to modify/change driveshafts, move the tranny crossmember, get a different t/case shifter ( if it's manual 4x4) and a few other things to make it work.......

I personally prefer the m50d, but only another tk5 OR fm145 will bolt in without modifications.

OK i see it is a 2wd.......nevermind about the t/case thing, and a fm145 will not work.........:D

But the shifter will be in a different spot. ( the floor plate will need to be modified)

lol well it's been a few weeks I ended up going with a TK out of an Aerostar that I found in a junkyard and so far it's worked just great, it's way quieter than my original whine box was.

So now I've got my original trans sitting in my garage, and what I'm wondering is if it's worth anything. Can I huck this thing onto craigslist and expect anyone to be interested in buying it? My most educated guess is that the trans is rebuildable, and someone would want it. How much can I sell it for? Thanks again.
