Knocks at freeway speeds and sometimes when pulling in 4th gear too....I have heard that the EGR could be dirty or the lines running to it?

EGR is a good place to start. any codes stored in the computer?
other possible causes could be bad fuel, carbon build up, incorrect spark plug/heat range, etc.
