I used the Tech. Library, and quite frankly, I'm confused. I've got a '93 extended cab short box 4WD ranger, and I want to go from the manual trans. that's currently behind the 4.0L V6 and go to an automatic. I know that the answer is right in front of me, but I'm a bit of an idiot when it comes to things like this lol

Thanks in advance

the auto you would have to use is an A4LD, and as posted already THEY SUCK! keep the manual. unless you are getting a c-4, if so you will need...
trans.
flexplate
converter
trans cooler
cooler lines
shifter
plus, there may be a difference in driveshaft lengths, cross member location. another thing to consider would be the clutch interlock switch, you will either have to leave the pedal in place so you can push it down to start the truck, or jump out the clutch interlock switch.

What do you mean 'jump out the switch'?

you will have to find the switch and add a wire to by pass or jump the switch out... the switch is normally open when the clutch is not pushed in, you need the jumper to make the circuit complete all the time.

If you take the clutch pedal position switch completely out, there is no need for a switch period, just the jumper.

You will also need the automatic 4.0 PCM.

true, but i wouldnt remove the clutch pedal and stuff, it wont hurt anything being there... and you just might decide to put a manual back in after having an auto. it would make going back super easy.
