So i went out today to get friction modifier for my 8.8 3L73 and when i asked for it they took me to a product called TRANS-X: POSI-TRAC Limited slip gear oil additive. did i get the right stuff? It has a Ford P/N on it: P/N M2C118-A

Yep, that's it. Should be a small amount, 4 oz.?

I like the way mine got grabbier WITHOUT that stuff.

But it can certainly surprise you on a rainy day powering out of a turn......I'm just sayin'

actually it comes in a 7 oz tube and the instruction say to use the whole bottle! well at least its the right stuff.

the whole point of the friction modifier is to help the limited slip, slip. running a l/s without the modifier can cause chattering on corners (the most common complaint) and cause the l/s to be more "grabby" as earl put it. it will also cause the clutch discs to wear faster.

you dont need to whole tube. id dump aboot half in and call it good.

well we dont want the clutch discs to wear out. my brothers clutch packs in his f-150 went out and they wanted 80 bucks a piece for the damn things!

$80 for a rebuild kit sounds about right. there are half a dozen or so discs in the clutch, i cant imagine paying $80 for each one :icon_thumby:

oh hmmm maybe he was telling me a fish tale? is it a pain to rebuild those?

its not too bad. basic hand tools and maybe 2 hours or so for a newbie.
