i need more info on if the 2.3L stock motor can take 10 lbs of boost with stock pistons. I was told someone pushed it to 15 lbs of boost and blew a head gasket, so can it take 10 lbs of boost or maybe 15 lbs of boost with a good head gasket. I will most likely use a garrett T3 turbo. I just need as much information on what the stock 2.3L motors can take. Like i said i want to run atleast 10 lbs of boost and maybe 15 lbs of boost. So can it handle that?

My credo
If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning.
Don't take this too offensively, but you really need to start reading.

it's not about simply "how many lbs of boost". different 2.3's had different CR's, and if a person that did the swap had any sense in them they spent quite a bit of time tuning them.

PSI also does not mean horsepower. if you've got tiny runners in your head and port them, your PSI will drop, but you'll get a more responsive and stronger engine.

It sounds like your goal is to push the stock pistons to their limit. Which means that when/if you get it to work, they won't last for dick. I guarantee you'll be running on borrowed time.

Build it right. Put forged pistons in it, or get a turbo short block.

On a side note, a good head gasket wouldn't make things better. it was a fuse, if a super good head gasket was put on then it wouldn't blow when your pressure got too high, and your piston would.

Same as why people run ultra cheap hubs on their rigs. If they put a decent one on, they start breaking internal stuff, which is a pain to fix.

I wouldn't run 10 psi on stock pistons. My set-up delivers only 5 psi, but it's plenty. If you're really wanting big boost, buy yourself some forged pistons and build your engine right the first time!
