Type of Trans to install

I have a 98 ranger 4wd 3.0l v6 ranger extended cab. I want to put a new transmission in it but i dont know what all the different kinds are. I want a good trans that can lasta long time. Please someone let me know

You are limited to the auto or the manual that came from the factory bolted to a 3.0L It has a 3.0L unique pattern so you only get two choices.

Thats true, but if you want auto get a later model(I think 96 or 97' and up)...but I'd say the best would be a Mazda r-1 manual tranny.

i forgot to mention it is a auto so what if i want it just to run good and know that it will take the power i want to install
