Cover Speaker box with??

Hey guys, my friend and I are building a custom box for his car. We have it all put together with the wood, speaker rings, etc. There are a lot of curves on the box so we decided to fiberglass it. I was just wondering what we should kind of fabric we should wrap it in to fiberglass over. Ive heard fleece from some people. Will any kind of stretchy fabric work?

Felt would probably be easier to find, and look like an aftermarket box.

thanks sunk.... let me rephrase myself:

theres a lot of open space where there is no wood or anything and i was wondering what kind of cloth I should glue to the speaker rings and stuff so i can fiberglass over the whole thing. This is the first time im attempting this.

Shouldn't it be enclosed....?

Hence the fiberglass....

I would think felt would be fine. It's thick enough to have some structure without multiple layers, stretches nicely, and is cheap and easy to find.

For that application, you could really use just about ANY cloth/fabric you can come up with.

Oh ok, I misunderstood.

From my limited experience with it, fiberglass will stick to most things (lol), so I would think that any fabric you can get would work.

Here is the box in my Mercury Tracer

Here is how I did it, Once the speaker ring and ports are put in place, I stretched a t-shirt over everything. I use t-shirt because the glass penetrates all the way thru. If it doesnt go all the way thru then it won't stick to the wood.

After the first layer is dry (hardened) then a second is applied. The reinforcement is done from the back, using fibergass and mat.

I use this method because it minimizes body work, This box was done in less than a week and its 9-years old.
