I have a 98 Ford Ranger with auto tranny, the other day I got the pump shaft out...the one that goes inside the large one in the bellhousing...today I couldn't hardly get it out so I took a rubber mallet and put a towel over the splines and gave it a few soft taps and then it came out, so I put it back in, and now I can't get it out again...i don't want to damage anything, people told me I should be able to get the tc to touch the back of the bellhousing but I have not been able to even before the shaft wouldn't come out....the torque converter is in the bellhousing though and so is the center stud, it looks like it is engaged, I just haven't been able to move it like everyone said
