should i get a new fan clutch or a electric fan


replace the fan clutch, do we really need to bring this up again? there is like a million page thread on this.

do a search.

e-fans are less reliable, reduced cooling capacity, and more expensive. you also will NOT gain any power or mileage with one (dispite some peoples claims to the contrary).

Threads about this are like weeds.....if I owned a site where this was brought up so often I'd just start deleting new threads about it.
 
yeah lets sticky the million page thread so its easy to find. there was more blood shed in that thread than in the SAS vs TTB thread and the political threads combined.
 
i dont think stickying it is going to help much. its too long and it got sidetracked too many times....noone will read it.

we need someone to create a post highlighting the pros and cons of an e-fan. along with other "power adders" like TB spacers, programmers, disabling your EGR, disabling your cat, "warm air" intakes, etc....

Its like you are reading my mind. :icon_idea:

If you have a special use (deep water crossing, etc), then switch to electric. If not, just replace the fan clutch.
 
Electric all the way. I bought my e-fan for less than half of the cost of a new clutch fan.

Its quieter and keeps my truck cool even when hauling my pig of a camper and pulling a boat through the mountains. Works for me.

My 88 X-cab project will have one too. It is all about personal preference. I never would have bought one if it wasn't for the fact I purchased mine for next to nothing.

Now fan only comes on when my engine needs it ... best $15.00 I ever spent
 
i got a new clutch for it. im putting it on tomarrow. next on my list is some body work and some slight performance addons. now that the fan is outta the way, do those tornado things work? lol jk
 
ha ha ha ha tornado things........dont make me die of laughter......if i only thought of that and charged MORONS a whopping 70.00 id be one rich moth#r f#cker
I bet you the inventor of that thing spent so much time and R&D on that silly thing just to find out that it did'nt do ANYTHING at all....and then thought to himself...."Eh some "Joe Shmo" will think it works and buy it HA HA im a genius!!!!!"

What is the problem with your current fan clutch?
