'97 Ranger XLT, stock radio, Delphi SkyFi XM on a gooseneck.

I was using a lighter plug FM modulator for the XM unit (due to my aversion to working under the dash), but it has since crapped out on me.

I picked up the better FM modulator box (with FM antenna connections) and I'm hoping to put it in this weekend (it's supposed to be above freezing for change).

Question is: Where is a convenient location to mount the box?

It looks like I can make the power connection to the lighter socket (power wire has a male/female pair of quick disconnects) and the antenna connections by just removing the radio from the dash, but I'll still need somewhere to mount the unit and I really dread working down there. Darn dashboard goes almost to the floor (or at least it seems that way).

Anyone have any helpful hints to make this go a little easier?

Thanks...

Looks like my question had already been answered (sorta') here by bigalpha. From his generous posting of photos showing the cavity where the radio resides, I see that there's probably space for the box behind the radio. Guess I'll find out tomorrow (40 degF, Yay.)

Thanks, bigalpha. I love it when people document what they've done with photos.
