When did the new [comfy] seats cut in? 04? 03?

Folks I've been shopping rangers from 01 to 08 and reading whatever I can get my hands on about engines, trannies, fuel mileage, towing, you name it.
I haven't found a straight answer to this, so please help :icon_confused:
What year, and if model-specific, which models, got the newer seats that are SO much more comfy than the old hunchback seats? I know the 01's still had the old send-to-chiropractor seats. I know the very latest ones have comfy, upright seats that dont bend the back over forward.
What year/model/etc started the new seats?
 
not quite sure what seats you mean but I loved my old split bench in the 97 the 05 edge I has the seats feel about the same just have a little more of a sport feel to them. the seats you mean might be the buckets in the fx4's if not not sure what they are then
 
It really depends what model you get. They did change in 04, but there were some pretty comfy pre-04 seats too. My bench seat is actually really comfy(even though the foam is crushed and its tworn). My grandmother is going to reupholster it for me for free!

04 was the first year of the "comfy" seats as you call it. 04-05 has the best seats in my opinion. In 06 they changed the upper half of the seat to make the head rest come forward. I don't like that seat nearly as much. I have to lean it back so it doesn't feel like it's pushing my head forward.
 
my 08 has the leather buckets there pretty comfortable.......
 
will newer ranger seats from the 04-08 era fit 91 my explorer? srry to thread jak
 
Umm, Ford started the highback seats or w/e they are called in 2004.

I honestly like the 01-03 seats the best.
 
i guess this is a height thing. I'm too tall for the 01 stock seats. backache from hunching forward. I need wide, flat, tall seat backs

thanks folks. looks like 04-05 may be my best shot.
Anyone have a clue what these would cost from a junkyard? I have my eyes on an 01 but the seats make me want to keep looking for later mod..
 
I had an 02 since new and this year got an 08. I think the 02 seats were more comfortable. Noticed the difference when I first got in.
