I just recently swapped out my dana 28 in my 89 x-cab stx for a dana 35 out of a 92 ranger with a 4.0. The swap went beautiful slid right in place. my only question is now that my wheels stick out alot father with the dana 35 than they did on the dana 28. is this a well known fact the the d35 is wider than the d28? Did I do something wrong with my install or am I just worrying too much that Ive messed up. Ive looked all through the tech library and cant find demensions that will satisfy my need for answers. or am I just blind. Help my out.

you are OK, i believe there is 1-2 inches of difference between the d28 and d35.

D28 is 58" wide WMS-WMS, the D35 is 59.5" (¾" wider per side).

Thanks now I just need to figure out how to get it inspected with the tires sticking out that far. Does anybody know of where I can get some Fender flares for my '89 ranger?

if you want cheap, use that rubber lawn edging found at home depot, if you want to spend, look at bushwacker fender flares

3/4" out per side shouldn't be enough to fail an inspection. If you have stock wheels, get them to prove it's illegal when everything is 'stock'.

Oh but if you were to see them then you would say I needed flares. I have 31's on 15x8" Eagle alloys with zero offset

Ah, the aftermarket rims will give it away.....

I have 10's and wheel adapters and a wider explorer 8.8 out back and my tires hang out fairly far so I know what your dealing with.
