I have a f150 for my offroad truck a wing nut fell into the carb as it was running. The engine is a 300 whats the worst case senario.

Nut gets wedged between valve and seat, drops a valve onto piston and craters engine.

you better start tearing that engine down, start with taking the carb off, then the intake, maybe you got lucky and it is still in the intake.

I know i shouldn't started it, but after removing the carb and intake mainfold nothing was found. So I cranked it, now it bucks then when idling it sounds like it wants to die.

new engine time, V8 swap maybe ........a 351 perhaps or even a 460?

Naw, I've seen those 300's live thru far worse.... (not kidding)
Anyways, sounds like it's time to pull the head and see what happened. My guess is that it tore up one of the intake valves / seats.

A buddy's dad had one still running with a hole in one cylinder wall before he swapped it out for a 351C.

My buddy had one as a farm truck. Like all fords, it eventually started leaking from the oil pan seal. Instead of fixing it, he would let it run out of oil until it overheated, fill it up with used tractor oil, and repeat the process. He did this for 50,000 miles before finally replacing the oil pan seal. The engine still runs great today.

I got out there today, and plugged all the vacumm lines that run to the carb. Replaced the gasket to the intake and header. She sounds nice and smooth runs good too.

The 300 is as tough as they come.
But i would still tear it down to verify that it isnt anywhere it can cause damage.
If you got real lucky....it might of melted from engine heat.
