Can someone tell me what vehicles had the same transmission as my "94 B 4000 4L auto o/d? Will one from a 2 wheel drive work?
"94 B4000 donor tranny.

Looks like you have an A4LD.
Junkyards are usually the best at parts "interchangeability" questions.
Give one a call. I'd expect the older Explorers to share that transmission, making it potentially more common. Also potentially MORE of them WITH PROBLEMS. 4wd and 2wd use different tailshaft housings.

I know the only trannies that will work are going to come from 4.0L 4wd drive trucks and Explorers. The 2.3's, 2.5's, 3.0's etc all have different bell housing patterns.
As to what years, any 94 A4LD tranny from a 4.0L will fit, and other than that it should any and all A4LD's from 4.0L motors.
This would probabaly help you, and maybe somebody else knows, but would an A4LD from behind a 2.9 work? I know they have the same bellhousing patterns.
