Most anything can be wired to function properly - IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT WIRING DIAGRAMS.
http://www.helminc.com will sell them to you for around $15. (If your particular diagrams cost more, post it, let us know.) Spend ~$30 and get your year model Ranger and the '90 'Stang diagrams. Study both diagrams - meld both harnesses together as needed.
