I just bought an '02 ranger with a blown motor. While I replace the motor, I figured I'd swap out the timing belt assuming it has one and not a timing chain. Which does it have? I don't have the truck with me and I need to get to the parts store today.

Greetings from Brazil!
I own a 2006/2007 2.3 gas double cabine Ranger made in Argentina.
I have not read anything on my Owner's Manual when this timing chain should be replaced or even inspected during regular maintenance procedures.
Did this timing chain ever collapse? If positive, did it occur at which mileage?
Regards,
Felipe

jax4bangin,
Nothing blew up.
My Ford Ranger manual suggests to change the timing chain of Ranger with the South American International NGD 3.0 motor at 100,000 km and to visually check its condition each 20,000 km.
Concerning the Ranger with the 2.3 gas motor timing chain it says nothing about.
Regards,
Felipe
