I was considering putting duals on my Ranger. I have a 3.0 and the last thing I want is for it to sound like a civic with a fart can. Any suggestions?

ya, dont put duals on it haha. Sorry. Anyways, try lookin into a decent brand name catback system, duals are HIGHLY over rater, and if you ususaly do short trips then you will never get the engin up to temp to "burn off" the moisture and it will collect in the exaust, and slowly but surly rust away the pipes and mufflers. Also, it may negatily affect the scavenging in the exaust, and you could possibly lose some performance.

I would be asking wicked sludge. He's got true duals on his 3.0. As far as I know they are working really well for him.:dntknw:

I think duals on a 6cyl sounds like crap. Wicked does like his though. A 2" single exhaust will flow all the 3.0 needs.
I have 2 1/2" single with a flowmaster 40 on two different 3.0s, It sounds tough. Like it is a much bigger motor.

i agree with mutant pony, i put a single, 2 1/2 with a flowmaster 40, before the rear tire and it sounds bad ass. it has a fairly mean growl to it. almost like its a v-8 but not quite.

if you run dual 2.5 outlets all the way to the back that me be overkill on pipe size. Id run 2" max out the back with duals, then you can do a 2.5 tip or something.

I got duals put on my truck in february of this year with a magnaflow muffler. I have it 2 1/2 in and 2 1/4 dual out. 2.25 inch pipe with 3 inch tips. No loss in any power at all, and i just like the looks of duals. It's been workin great!

Magnaflow/Borla are a bit quieter than the flowmaster mufflers. It's all in what you are looking for.

That is strange, it is a $25,000 fine for the shop and $5,000 fine for the tech that did it if they would have gotten caught. The dealership my brother works at here in the middle of "about anything goes" gets inspected for extra cats laying around, and they would get fined if they didn't have the paperwork as to why they are not in the vehicle anymore and what they were replaced by.

When I mentioned true duals for my F-150 the shop owner got all excited, on most trucks that means loosing the cats, but he settled down when I reminded him that I have 2 cats per bank so you can run duals without altering them in any way shape or form.
