the M5OD is pretty much your only option. its a good trans and they are plentiful.

your current transfer case will bolt up to an M5OD.

I just completed your swap in question this past summer.

I went from the 4R44E automatic to the M5OD 5 speed manual. Your tcase will bolt up; however, your front driveshaft may need to be cut. Mine ended up needing a cut, yours may not. Only way to tell is when you complete the swap.

i wonder why you had to mess with the driveline...the A4LD (the transmission the 4R44E is based on) is the same length as the M5OD :dunno:

ok, would a m5od 4wd trans from a 88-94 match up to a 99 3.0? assuming a hada complete donor truck, would it all just bolt in?

as long as your donor is a 3.0, any year will work (91-present). the 3.0 only had one manual transmission behind it in the ranger.
