PUKE. freakin ford, they had screw up the first cool looking mustang since 1968. that car didn't need a redesign, needed power change.

I like it, it looks more aggressive than the cartoon looking 1970 wannabe Mustang we have now.
I hope it sounds like it does in the commercials too. :yahoo:

i think they ruined them in 87 when they got rid of the four headlight style. nothing is sexier then the 85-86 gts in black with the flat black center of the hood

o btw i know we had a good long thread about this before but theyve announced that the 3v 4.6 modular will be the motor in the GT, for the time being anyway. and the v6 is going to be the 4.0 in the 2010 model but in 2011 theyre switching to the tt3.5. seems weird to me

1970's wannabe???????? that is clearly modeled after the 64.5 - 68 mustangs. that 2010 looks like a 1970 mach1 which was one of the ugliest mustangs arond

Ford said late 60's when it was released, I have to agree. I meant 1969 instead of '70 as the '70 had swoopy vents at the front corners instead of headlights. I always thought it looked like they took a '69 and made it look cute. Not that it is a bad looking car by any means, but it isn't my favorite Mustang.

The only hue I pick up from the early ones is the little flutes infront of the headlights.

1971 is when they got hidious... although they don't look too bad from the back, the front is terrible.

I really like that. If I only had enough money to buy one. Good looking and great sounding car. The only thing I would change design wise is how round the roof section is. If it were flattened out a little more it would look better.
they should offer a coupe body, as that one looks like a fastback. Take a look a an 05+ vert next time you can and imagine it with sheetmetal instead...I say it would be awsome.
Ill still take an 03 cobra any day over any other stang....... 3v s/c 5.4L= hellyeah!

yeah another retro throwback, i mean if you can't come up with a new styling just rehash the old ones every 40 years
so does that mean in another 40 years I can buy a new restyled version of a restyled version of a 60's mustang, makes me thing i should just go buy a 60's mustang. I would rather buy a fusion than a new mustang, at least it isn't just copying something
oh yeah 03 04 cobra bodystyle is the best looking mustangs to date btw, why don't they just restyle the next mustangs to look like those and skip few decades
but they are bringing back the Boss mustang
That is one I havn't heard about yet, must have missed it. I know the "Boss" 302 motor is coming back in an updated version but nothing to do with the old one. They have finially started shipping the Cobra Jets based on the Shelby 500 but for the strip only, 5.4 3V SC motor, limited to 50 units. Think they even went to using a 9" rear end. Ford had even made a couple of protype Mustangs using the mod 4.6 motor but used 10 cylinders and called it the Boss 351 (not the truck motor).
Dave - love it when that SC kicks in!

Not bad.
I wish they would make the F series look like they did in 73-79. Id be in line for one tomorrow.

I heard a while ago Ford was experimenting with a V10 version based on the 4.6L dimensions (like the 5.4L V8 and 6.8L V10). Lately I heard a lot of good news from the new Boss 6.2L V8 built specifically to increase the displacement later (wider bore spacing and stout blocks). Supposedly we will see a DOHC version of it and it will encorperate the fuel savings cylinder shut off systems GM and others have done. But at any rate, a 5.0L "cammer" engine would be a perfect match. I wish Ford would up it a little more than 315hp. Thats kinda low compared to the competiters. I guess you could purchase a 427R and spank everyone (you know who you are!) but the base models need a little more than that.
I think that "Boss" program for the trucks got pulled in July because of the way the economics were going. You can buy right out of the new FRPP catalog a 4.6 3V NA motor rated at 350 hp. As much as we would all like to see as much hp and great styling, in todays world it's all dictated by fuel economy, price of manufacturing (why there is only two body styles) and all the new government rules and regulations I think Chryler and Cheby are going to have a hard time making a go of it with their new, hot models. Too expensive, too heavy. Buy a new Mustang, slap a SC on it and you are right up with the HP of the "want-a-be's" with HP and weight 500-600 lbs less for $5000 less. I think the gas guzzler tax was about $3200 on mine and yet they don't tax trucks and SUV. It's snowing again so I'm rambling!

Just startin to snow here. That is true, though. GM fans are all about the new camaro but I think it'll die out pretty quickly. Ford introduced the "retro-modern" mustang in 2005. GM and Chrysler are going to look like copy-cats trying to introduce something 3-4 years later during a time where most Americans aren't about to spend money toys.
i do like that new challenger tho, the charger is FUGLY with a capital R for REALLY FUGLY!

Well as the 69' and 70' Mustang came after the 68' technicly the 68' wasn't the last cool mustang.
I like the ones that are out there now however you can only roll with the same design for so many years before you must change it up or risk it getting old. This isn't that bad, its kind of a step down from the current model but its still a good looking car.

I agree with this part. The '05 redesign was a beauty. This new design looks to me more like the old '04 and previous front nose. The tail is good looking though.
Sequential taillights? Big Deal....a buddy at work has them on his '06.
With the big three in the shape they are in, now is NOT the time to be going backwards with a design.

No freakin way is the 2010 a big improvement over the 05-09.The ass end of the car is horrible and reminds me of a mid 80s celica and with the GM style cowl induction hood you might as well call it a camaro. No one I know so far cares for the new design and not a one of them are middle aged. One sidenote though I went into Ford last fall after seeing the new design to order an 09 before they quit taking them and virtually everything I wanted could not be had for one rediculous reason or another.Believe it or not I could not get the wheels I wanted because of the interior I chose which was the premium option because of the glassroof I wanted and the wheels were 18in premium. You would think that wouldnt be a problem.I also wanted a car without power windows, door locks and a/c..All mandatory now the dealer told me.I said I want a musclecar not a lincoln..I also wanted the 3.73 axle that they put under the bullitt.Bullitt only they told me..I said that axle is right there on the assembly line, tell them to throw one under it,its not like anything special has to be done. They said not possible! So I walked! No way was I going to pay 34k for a car optioned the way ford wanted and not the way I wanted it.I did hear the 3.73 axle is now available on the 2010s along with the cold air induction system.Hopefully they come out with an aggressive design soon like the 09s had and not make us wait for 5 years.
I'd really don't understand along with you, it's on the same assembly line, why can't you have it. Had the same problem when I ordered my 2000 Ranger 4x2. Only ratio with the posi was the 3.55 yet you sure could get a 4.10/posi in the 4x4. I hate the fact that the newer Mustangs don't even have a key hole on the passenger side. You lock that door and you have to use the fob. None of my Rangers have ever had electric windows or door locks. Guess I'm stuck with the '07', happen to really love it anyway.

I like the side profile of the 2010. The front is just OK. The tail is frickin HIDEOUS. Overall the 05-09 was better on the exterior. The interior on the 2010 is a step up.

I love the '10, the only thing I don't really care for is the curved back end, but the rest of it is so beautiful I would happily back into my parking stall so I didn't have to look at it if it bothered me more than it did.
The 05-09's were almost too "cute" for me. Especially in the back end, they look like the took a late 60's - early 70's Mustang and tried to make a cartoon version.
Very few people don't want power windows/locks/ac on a new car. Personall y I hate that manual crap on my Ranger. It is no fun to jump into a truck that is 130+ degrees inside, have to reach acrosss and crank the other window down (after you do yours so you can breath) and burn my arm on the windowsill as I try to scoop in air that is only 100 degrees once I get moving to somewhat cool down. I would be up a crick without my rear slider, which I doubt you can get in a car... It is equally unfun to have to reach across the truck to lock/unlock the door. A/C, pw, ps, pb, pl, and cruise are requirements for me, I don't really want much more than that though.
If I spend $20k+ on a new car I am going get some critter comforts.
I am going to get an '10+ in a couple years, it won't be new though. My brother plans on ordering one as soon as he gets his student loan paid off.

Yeah I understand wanting more options for the money.I just wanted a stripped down car with less weight and alot cheaper price.I did want the glass roof which was a 2k dollar option.I think they will be very collectible in the future.I still dont know if they are offering it on the 2010s.The early auto show pics of them showed them having it but I havent seen any advertisements.I absolutely hate power windows though. They are a real pain in the ass. They freeze in the frames in the winter and when the motor goes bad(and they always do)you cant get the window down at all, unless you want to pay Ford x amount of dollars to fix it.Its not fun at all to go thru a fast food drive thru etc and have to open your door to get your items.I see it all the time.Ford has took most of our choices away in ordering a car. When I was at the dealer I could count on one hand how many options could be ordered seperately. They put them into preferred equipment packages and you have to take a bunch of them to get the one you want.About the only real choice you have anymore is paint color.I know for a fact this has hurt sales, and there was no excuse at all for not having the wheels I wanted because of the premium leather interior I chose. It was easy to see why I walked from ordering one.Ford counts on high sales on the Mustang regardless of what they do with it because of it being a Mustang and for the most part they are right but that doesnt mean they should take the versatility away from it to where we cant order something unique.Alot of us like having/driving something a little different.

I am 99% sure they had the big sunroof thing in the '10 brochure my brother brought home from work. You won't get that big window deal in a base car, like a convertable that thing will be close to loaded to get that checkbox available.
Usually after you drive around for awhile your windows will thaw out, I have had them freeze on my Ranger before too, nothing can take 1/2" of ice and not freeze, even doors.

The 2010 Ford (SVT) Mustang Shelby GT500 is supposed to make 540hp and start at under 50 grand. No other new car makes that much power for under 80 grand. Viper starts at 92k (600hp) and the ZR1 Vette (638hp) starts at 105k. And we all know whats happening to GM and Chrysler...

Thetruthaboutcars.com is known for bashing cars (they recently gave a Maybach a 1 out 5 star rating). The new shelby GT500 got 5/5 and the 2010 GT got 4/5. Also, it was noted that these cars handle much better than the previous generation of mustangs any day. If it were the same price I'd take a 2010 mustang over a 2009 mustang anyday.
