He means as you have your pulley off the bottom and can look in there and see the bottom timing gear, you will see where the keyway is on the crank, have this straight up then line up the rest of your marks, put the belt on,release the bolt holding the tensioner, tighten it and then roll it over and check your marks then check again.

OK I get what you mean. But the Camshaft is Triangle to Triangle and the AUX is Diamond to Diamond Right?

Correct. And a precaution. Sometimes on the first try, many do not get the belt positioned correctly due to slack, etc. As 4b316 said, after you install the belt, turn the engine over by hand in the direction of rotation, counterclockwise from the drivers seat, clockwise standing in front of the truck. DO NOT turn the engine in the wrong direction as it can skip teeth. Turn the engine a couple of times, then re-check your marks. If they are not correct, simply redo your work.

The Woodruff key on the crank is the metal piece that keeps the crank pulley from turning when it is installed. There is a groove in the crank, and one in the pulley. This groove goes straight up. The book says 90* to the pan rail.:)shady
