Hi Everybody,

I have bought my truck with after market rims, and the tires on them seem to be a little bigger than what it should have (but it looks nice). I have 235/70/R15

I checked on tirerack and they give 3 different tires as original equipment, they are :
195/70-14
215/70-14
225/70-14

My questions about that are:

  1. Could the bigger tires screw my engine or transmission ?
  2. What size tires and rims do you guys have ?
  3. Should I get regular rims, sell these and get smaller tires ?

Can somebody tell me how to attach a image to that post, so I can show you mine.

An increase in size will make your speedo read a little slower than actual speed. And all three of the tires you listed are for a 14" rim, you need to find tires for a 15".

Just bought a 97 ranger with the factory aluminum wheels. The door jam label lists 225/70X14 as the original size

The bigger tires aint gonna hurt your truck, the 235/70/15 is what came factory on the 4x4 trucks and Exploders.

If you want I have 225/70/14's and I'd be more then willing to swap with you. Not so much because I want them, I just want you to be happy and feel good about your truck. :D

255/70/15

fits fine
