Ill start out by saying that I just joined this forum and its awesome. Now for the problem what I believe it is valve noise it sounds like it coming from underneath valve cover. What i've tired so far is transmission fuild in with oil let it sit idle for 10 min and changed the oil put 20w50 in didnt help also tired pulling both plug wires one at a time to each cylinder to see if the noise went away it didn't any suggestions before I put New lifters in it. its a 1995 ford ranger 2wd 2.3 liter automatic transmission 267,000 miles on it still runs strong except for lifter tapping.

if you are running bigger tires it tends to over work the motor and sometimes causing a rod to bend alittle. i isnt a big deal, but if it gets worse replace the rods with stronger ones. my truck has had this going on for a year now and it runs great

sorry if nobody know what im talking about:dunno:

how much oil pressure do you have? if oil pressure drops, the first sign you will get is tapping lifters. if oil pressure is down, i would replace the oil pump and screen before doing the lifters.

is there anyway to tell without hooking up one those cheap guages with the plastic line it reads the oil pressure middle on stock guage but i heard it will read the middle even when it has low oil pressure
