On my Mazda 2.3 dohc pickup, I am wanting to remove the water pump. It appears that there are no bolts that hold the serpentine water pump pulley . The pulley also covers all the bolts that secure the waterpump so that you cannot even see them. The pulley has 3 holes in it and the large nut in the center that attaches the fan clutch to it. I am assuming that there is a special spanner that holds the pulley as you unscrew the fan clutch.

Does the pulley just come off after unscrewing the fan clutch or ???

Yes, I know I could buy a manual, but finding one local is not working out and what I do find makes reference to older models that have the pullet bolted on in a "conventional" manner.

Thanks,
Robert

What year is yours?

I just did the water pump on my 2004 2.3 4 cylinder and its easy.
Unhook battery
Remove 3 10mm bolts from pulley on the front of the water pump
Remove serpentine belt,, insert a 3/8" drive into the tensioner and turn
Remove 3 8mm bolts from water pump, they are not spaced evenly
Remove water pump by wedging it out with a screwdriver
Some coolant comes out so have drain pans ready
Insert new water pump
Install 3 8mm bolts
Install pulley and 3 10mm bolts
Install serpentine belt
Add coolant to tank
Hookup battery
Startup truck and run,, add coolant when needed.
A good mechanic with air tools could do it in 1/2 hour.
