well i figured i would get a short list of things i have done with pictures and descriptions so everyone sees i actually wheel and dont sit around online instead of wrenching like other people i know......

i got it last fall and this is basicly what it looked like

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff80/the86ford/DSCN0168.jpg

next step was 31s some coil spacers and a bastard leaf pack out back but i lack pictures of this. i had swaped on manual hubs to replace the automatic ones.

skip ahead 6 months or so and i have swaped in a ford 8.8 and dana 35 from a explorer that both have 456 gears and a mini spool in the rear. the front suspension has rancho jeep coils that are only a 240lb spring rate instead of the crappy 500 pound rate lift coils that came with my 2.5 inch lift kit. front can get about 13 inches of wheel travel as it sits and could get 17 if i changed the shock mounts for more travel.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff80/the86ford/b2with33safterfendertrimming001.jpg

jeep coils that have a 18 inch free height and have a static ride height of around 14 inches with SSV shocks to keep them under control.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff80/the86ford/b2buildthread012.jpg

IFS diff cover to replace the shitty fiberglass one that ford put on there stock

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff80/the86ford/b2buildthread010.jpg

nice long radius arms that came with my lift along with poly bushings.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff80/the86ford/b2buildthread011.jpg

cant go without good tow points and something to protect your radiator and other important engine parts from trees.

33 12.5 15 TSLs

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff80/the86ford/b2buildthread009.jpg

window sliders to save those big vonerable windows (they do work!)

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff80/the86ford/b2buildthread015.jpg

and how it sits tonight while i dick around on here proving i actually do wheel....

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff80/the86ford/b2buildthread014.jpg

well now that a spent an hr getting this junk together for all you web wheelers i am going to go put the b2 back together to run trails sunday.

what brand was the lift? i like those radius arms

actually they are the rancho 2.5 inch lift and radius arms everyone hates. i am yet to break anything on the 2.5 lift, well whats left of it, i am only using the radius arms, radius arm mounts and lift brackets. everything else got tossed for better parts such as jeep coils.

holy crap, that sucks. i love your b2 though, how did you manage that one?

1 stuck stock (31s open diffs) xj sunk to the rockers at all 4 corners or deeper on tree infested trails. i yanked hard, like 3 wheels digging holes in 1st gear low gear with the pedal to the floor. slid sideways into a tree because the b2 was squirming around looking for traction. kissed the tree kinda hard but did not think anything of it. kept the gas going and BANG there goes my window ( i dont mind the dents at all but the window busted out for a 40 min ride home sucked, i see plexi glass in my future)... re aligned my self shortened the straps since i had moved him 4-5 feet and finished the extraction. i have a habit of taking newbies under my wing so i suffer a fair amount body damage and vehicle abuse in the process. i dont like it when newbies come out to have some fun and they get super frustrated trying to follow people in rigs that are locked front and/or rear that have alot more experience so i tend to hold there hand a little and help them learn because learning that you will rip a tierod end out of the sleeve by binding up the steering against the ruts is NOT something i want to deal with nor do i want them to experience early on. along with exploding d30 shafts and other mistakes people make early on(he was in D the entire day). its a BAD day when you have to learn your lessons by trashing your DD. everyone who wheels has done serious damage to a vehicle they NEED early on in there "wheeling career". i try and save people from that, if they dont listen i just laugh, help them and know not to invite them again.

Damn that sux, never thought the bII was ur dd.

it is not my DD but at one point in time i did beat on my DD. i would be mad right now if i had to drive that thing, but i dont so it isent a big deal. i have learned that i cant wheel hard and have fun if i intend to drive my rig to work on monday. i am not one to pussy foot around the trails so wheeling my dd would be a recipe for disaster. i went off into a little rant about helping newbies with wheeling. i just hate it when the new kids (usually kids) are invited and are not offered any advice or help by the people who brought them along(particularly when the person who invited them was running 36s on a tj that made the b2 look like a kids toy).

86i did that to my truck sliding sidehill in the mud.threw glass all over the cab.being the cheap bastard that i am and working at a body shop i just took hammers, dollies, and prybars to line up ythe internal window tracks again and hammer the outer window weatherstrip surface flat and bolt in another window.and its my D.D.

do you have one of those stretch straps? they are great! no more slamming on the strap/trucks. just punch it till it pulls tight and hold until it slacks on its own, then repeat.no flailing.i'm bummed though i partially cut one end of it on a s-10 bumper(i know it makes it that much worse).

i wish i had a winch. it is for those OH **** situations were you are stuck and need to be able to clutch, brake and gas all at once to avoid falling off a ledge, into a tree etc.

:icon_confused:

there is an old man that runs an OLD 4x4 shop 5 min from my house and he had this lift just sitting around collecting dust. i think the box the rancho coils were in (that i sold) said 8/86. i think i have 240bucks into all the lift components and rancho XJ coils. the old man rules! i can get tons of stuff so if anyone is looking for obscure stuff PM me. its mostly jeep and EB stuff, a few motors, trannys, etc.

short of a roll over i dont really care about mechanical or body damage. as long as it can be put back together in a few days or even a week i dont mind anymore. i have just about anything and everything in my garage or i can get it cheap.

i need to cut more of the front fenders, fix or replace that door, figure out why the engine is so cranky and fix that. the next upgrade will be a aussie locker for the front i think. i dont see me getting the aussie till spring time. till then it will see trails and trees!

It's great to see what your truck looks like. It turned out great and I bet it performs better.

I want to go wheeling with you sometime next summer. Just need to save change to get mine 4x4, and we can stomp some shit. I'm working on 4.56's in the rear. Got a shop that can turn my transmission into 4x4. Just need a pile of cash to finish the front.

Speaking of which, you don't know anybody with a D30 3.73 and numerically higher carrier and/or Lock-rite, do you?

i am going to text you about it right now. just get a 4wd trans if you can from a yard, its MUCH CHEAPER. i have a local bone yard you need to come rape. its a a u-pull-it and everything is stupid cheap. they have 40 or 50 RBVs at any given time. i am happy you see my trail rash and dont shy away from wheeling with me, most do........... pansies.

you ever call the old man at the 4x4 shop up by me? i would be willing to bet over the course of a month if i stopped in once a week i could find a 2.3 4wd tranny. all of 4cyl rangers have the same bell housing pattern?

it gets me really hot when i know over half of the regular visitors personally and some pussy decides to keep spitting BS like they actually wheel with the big boys. i am NOT a big boy, i own a cheap toy for a trail rig and i do what i can with it. i will not go and be a big headache for everyone because i have a complex. if its beyond my limits and the limits of my rig i back down plain and simple. i get pissed when a guy does not help newbies, tells people he is a better wheeler and has a better rig then wants nothing to do with the challenges that mite do serious damage to his rig. i am not happy right now.

86that made me think of something.my local yard has very cheap "cores" that sat exposed to the elements at one time(not rusted solid but prolly got some rusty parts).

colin why not get one of those to get the mainshaft and tailshaft from for your m5od.

i treat mine as disposable all the time and its shows with how much crap i have to fix after every trip. i busted the center bolt in my spring pack so i have to fix that now! i should be making some home brewed radius arms soon to replace the stupid ranchos since i am rubbing them! junkie called it again. we will see what my b2 looks like a few years down the road if i dont have to swap parts onto a new rig by then. it is true that some of the best wheelers i know flat out dont care what they break.

Damn dude...who pissed in your cheerios?

I told you you need to go with my group. None of us go out to tear our rigs up, but if it happens..oh well. That's what we build them for and as long as we can get them back to the trailer...all is well. I ended up towing Bro2's rig three miles back to the truck when he gernaded the transmission pump.

I know you saw the video when I flopped my B2 last spring...only thing that had me concerned was the amount of oil smoke....:dunno:
