will a tranny from a 95 explorer work for a 1989 bronco 11 with a 2.9?

There may be issues with stick placement and ONE bolt may not line up (out of 6 for the 2.9L). And you'll need a starter and the 4.0L clutch.

But yes, it can work. The bolt patterns are nearly compatible. Close enough.
 
i dont know if it matters but there both autos
 
That might be trickier. The 4R55E is probably more reliant on computer controls than the A4LD, though the transmissions are related.

Just for your reference, the 4.0 SOHC and 4.0 OHV have the same bell housing bolt pattern. I put a SOHC trans mission on my OHV when I did the trans swap on my old Ranger.

There will be 2 bolts that won't have a hole on the 2.9 if you are using a 4.0 transmission; those are the 2 bolts that go into the oil pan.
